About the Role
The Senior Manager of Payroll will be a key member of BetMGM’s growing finance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the accuracy and smooth running of the bi-weekly company payroll process and work closely with the HR and Finance team on existing and new processes. The role will require both a keen attention to detail and the strategic foresight to design the departmental roadmap in an ever-changing environment. Responsibilities
• Act as subject matter expert of the team and lead payroll processing of over 700+ employees
• Design and manage the payroll department through a period of high growth
• Lead a payroll systems review
• Review and support the organization of responsibilities between Payroll, HR and Finance teams
• Manage and develop a PEO relationship for a new entity
• Leading all future payroll projects
• Ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.
• Maintaining payroll information by managing the collection, calculation, and entering of data.
• Interpret Company policy and local, state, and federal law to ensure accurate payroll processing
• Working closely with senior managers to review timesheet submissions from hourly staff
• Compiling and uploading payroll journals to the accounting system
• Reconciling payroll payments to bank statements
• Leading the investigations of payroll queries from staff and management
• Maintaining payroll guidelines by writing and updating policies and procedures
• Maintain confidential information when required by legal or ethical standards and professionalism to ensure privacy of employee records
• Provide support on internal and external audit requests
Education
• Bachelors degree or higher
Qualifications
• 10+ years of experience leading successful payroll teams
• Proven experience of managing an end-to-end payroll process in a fast paced and ever-changing environment
• Strong IT skills including experience with payroll systems, accounting software and MS Excel
• System implementation and payroll project experience
Additional Requirements (if applicable)
• Proven experience of managing an end-to-end payroll process in a fast paced and ever-changing environment
• Expert knowledge of processing and auditing non-exempt payroll across multiple employment sites
• Expert knowledge of FLSA compliance, wage and hour, state salary thresholds, state mandated paid sick leave, and other local, state, and federal pay laws
• Strong IT skills including experience with payroll systems, accounting software and MS Excel
• Payroll system implementation experience
• Ambitious self-starter, proactive and passionate
• Strong inter-personal skills with the ability to communicate, describe and explain
• Do-what-it-takes attitude, willing to dive in a figure it out
• Team player
