Job Summary:

Capital One is searching for an applicant for the role of Senior Distinguished Engineer for AI Systems to aid in the construction of our enterprise's AI capabilities. You will collaborate with a team of AI engineers and researchers to create strong and secure infrastructure, large-scale distributed training clusters, and sophisticated AI research and development projects. To be successful in this role, you should have extensive knowledge of cloud environments, machine learning, and distributed computing, combined with a passion for transforming the banking sector through innovation.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Build an architecture for strengthening the execution of challenging large-scale training projects with the utilization of containers and checkpointing libraries.
• Designing and deploying an infrastructure capable of serving large machine learning models efficiently is paramount to achieving success in our public cloud environment.
• The public cloud can be effectively utilized to deploy a training cluster that has the potential to dramatically improve the efficiency of training tasks, where special attention is given to refining storage and networking stack for optimal performance.
• Develop benchmark tests that simulate real-world operating conditions and user behaviors to test the performance of AI software systems, and provide recommendations on the most efficient and effective technology stacks for these conditions.
• Use the insights provided by large language models (LLMs) and feature models (FMs) to craft exceptional applications that are tailored to your target audience's needs.
• Documentation is crucial for effective MLOps for foundation models. Clear and concise documentation can help ensure that team members understand the model's architecture, dependencies, and performance metrics.

Qualifications and Experience:

• This job opportunity calls for candidates who have obtained a technical Bachelor's degree, with preference given to those who studied Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related fields.
• I have a wealth of experience in creating and building distributed computing, HPC, and extensive ML systems, spanning over seven years.
• The candidate possesses significant expertise in developing AI and ML algorithms using either Python or C/C++, honed over half a decade of hands-on experience.
• My experience of 3+ years has allowed me to work with artificial intelligence and machine learning frameworks within the context of the public cloud for complete machine learning development.

Preferred Qualifications:

• In order to qualify for this position, candidates must have a Master's or PhD degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or another related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience that emphasizes cutting-edge AI techniques.
• Proficient in building cloud-based distributed systems in AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Leveraging their vast experience in cloud systems design, the candidate is highly skilled in developing and implementing cloud architectures that prioritize security, reliability, and scalability while also enforcing cost controls.
• Accomplishing the delivery of large models via the MLOps life cycle is one of our strengths, thanks to our experience and skill.
• The integration of storage and networking components into a GPU cluster hosted in the public cloud can be a complex task, yet the resultant system's efficiency is worth the arduous experience.
• Familiar with the full technology stack for distributed training of expansive models, facilitating distributed training using ML compilers, distributed training frameworks, and development libraries such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, Lightning and others.
• As an expert in AI technology stack, I am proficient in implementing different areas like prompt engineering, guardrails, vector databases/knowledge bases, LLM hosting, and fine-tuning, helping to achieve better AI outcomes.
• Proven expertise in neural networks, distributed training, and SysML indicated by distinguished research publications presented at top-tier peer-reviewed conferences, or substantial contributions to the industry.
