Department: Systems Engineering
Location: 320 Congress Street, Floor 1 Boston, MA 02210
Autonodyne is a Boston-based software company working to provide additive autonomy to unmanned vehicles in land, sea, and air domains. Our technology stack applies mainly to the defense sector, but we view most of our work as dual use for commercial applications. We are a rapidly growing organization with over 50 people employed today. At Autonodyne we specialize in the command and control of autonomous vehicles. Our software suite sits at the nexus of Human-Machine Interface & Autonomy Behaviors. We are searching for a Systems Engineer who is passionate about unmanned systems and has a background in model-based systems engineering (MBSE). The ideal candidate can effectively apply systems engineering methods and skills to manage the development of autonomous software systems throughout all phases of the software development lifecycle.
Responsibilities:
· Manage software projects with a unique blend of systems engineering and agile software processes.
· Lead teams of software developers in the preparation, planning, and management of contracted deliverables.
· Generate and manage software requirements based on contract requirements and stakeholder needs.
· Create user stories with input from key stakeholders.
· Write verification and validation test plans.
· Use MBSE to design and document the architecture of software systems.
· Determine and manage tasks, issues, risks, and action items across projects.
· Monitor progress and performance while helping teams to make improvements.
· Plan and organize product testing, reviews, and demos.
· Ensure proper use of collaborative processes/tools and remove impediments for software developers.
· Use Jira to track project processes and deliverables.
· Maintain comprehensive documentation, including program CONOPs, software architecture, project requirements, V&V test plans and procedures, decision records, and user guides.
· Support flight test, as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
· Bachelors degree in Systems Engineering, Engineering Management, Software Engineering, or related field.
· 1-5 years of experience in a Systems Engineering role.
· Experience with GIT version-control software.
· Experience with project management/tracking tools, such as Jira, Confluence, and/or MS Project.
· Experience with the Systems Engineering concepts of requirements analysis, system architecture, system integration, verification and validation, and lifecycle management.
· Experience in MBSE.
· Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills with team members, internal leadership, and external stakeholders.
· Ability to manage and prioritize multiple complex projects and assignments.
· Ability to learn and adapt quickly to new domains, technologies, and priorities.
· Excellent time management and organization skills.
· US Citizenship required.
· Ability to obtain and maintain an Active DoD Secret Clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Masters degree in Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science/programming, or related field.
· Experience with MagicDraw and SysML for MBSE.
· Knowledge of scrum and agile software processes.
· Experience with an object-oriented programming language.
· Industry experience in the autonomy software and/or unmanned systems field.
· Active DoD Secret Clearance.
Travel:
This position will likely involve travel to customer and non-customer sites principally in North America (up to 20%), but global travel is also possible.
Other Criteria:
Strongly prefer domicile near the Boston/Cambridge metro area but will consider non-local domicile – relocation to Boston area part of compensation package, if necessary.
Security clearance (active or previous) or the ability to be granted one desired.
